Celina Jaitley's debut film was Feroz Khan's movie titled 'Janasheen' opposite Fardeen Khan. Her other film was' Khel'. So in the year 2003 Celina Jaitley set the screen on fire with her itsy bitsy acts in both 'Khel' and 'Janasheen'. But both the films disappeared without a trace. Enough to dishearten for any newcomer but Celina Jaitley is striving hard to create a place for herself.

Most of the shooting of her film took place in South Africa. Celina Jaitley minces no words in saying that she is in love with South Africa and if there was any city she would like to settle, apart from Mumbai, it would be Cape Town. The actress says she is completely bowled over by the courtesy and hospitality of the people there. “If it comes to giving points for courtesy and hospitality, I would give 98.9 percent of my points to Johannesburg and its people, after India of course,” a report quotes Celina as saying. In fact, not just Celina, even Sunil Darshan is very much smitten with South Africa. Shakalaka Boom Boom is his sixth film to be shot in the country.

Celina Jaitley is very ound of pets. She has got a very small and cute puppy that she has named Tea Cup. The puppy is said to be no larger than Celina’s both hands put together and sometimes the actress even slips it into her loose pocket. What more, Celina even dresses up this small puppy. Besides Tea Cup, Celina has a number of other pets. These include a white Labrador called Pub Trooper, a cocker spaniel named Heineken and other pets named Shitzu and Pepe. Celina Jaitley shares this fondness for pets with her good friend Lara Dutta . Celina and Lara worked together in last year’s hit comedy film No Entry.

Celina Jaitley was fourth runner up in the Miss Universe beauty pageant of year 2001, held in Puerto Rico. Celina Jaitley is daughter of a Punjabi father who was an Indian Army officer. Her mother is an Afghan and is a child psychologist by profession. She was born in 1981, and stands 5”6’ in socks. Her nickname is Chinky. She graduated in Commerce and fetched her a marketing job for a Cell phone company in Kolkatta. There she participated in a local beauty contest just for the heck of participation and to everybody’s surprise she emerged victorious. This gave her a boost and she sent her pictures for the Miss India contest. Just a day before the preliminary rounds were to begin Celina got the invitation to participate. Soon she walked away with the coveted, Miss India crown bagging almost every title from Best Skin to Best Clothes to MTVs most wanted.

This title win enabled her to participate in the Miss universe title. But Indian girls had won it for three consecutive years. There was an immense pressure on her persona with press flooding her with questions about rigging. She was weighed down by this pre –contest scepticism and it did cast its impact on the final outcome. Celina was adjudged fourth runner up from amongst 83 contestants.
