Deepika Padukone Biography
Deepika Padukone is an Indian actress and a former model. She appears mostly in Hindi as well as Tamil and Kannada language films. She was born on 5 January 1986. Her father is famous badminton player Prakash Padukone.
Padukone made her acting debut in the 2006 Kannada film Aishwarya. The following year, she made her Hindi film debut in Om Shanti Om, for which she earned the Filmfare Best Female Debut Award. It also remains her biggest commercial success so far. She subsequently appeared in films such as Love Aaj Kal (2009) and Housefull (2010). While the former earned her a Filmfare nomination in the Best Actress category, the latter emerged as a commercial success.

Deepika is a rare breed who’s blessed with both beauty and brains. She’s a very smart girl and always makes the right moves. Even though she’s not a born actress, she’s honing her skills well. And going by the promos of her latest, I think she’s done a fabulous job. Even when she debuted in my film Aishwarya, she was keen to do a good job and always corrected her mistakes. Deepika’s in the same mould as Aishwarya Bachchan.
And she’s learned the ropes of the industry well. I think she’s brilliant at handling the media and the industry folks. She’s definitely ready to take on Bollywood.
Having used regional cinema (Kanada and Tamil) as a stepping stone to Bollywood, Deepika has always enjoyed being a supermodel.
“I didn’t get into modeling to get into acting. Everything happened eventually with time,” says the beauty, recently spotted at Kipling’s outlet in west Delhi at the launch of the company’s new bag collection, after a brief hiatus from the limelight.

In March 2008, Padukone began dating Ranbir Kapoor, her co-star from the film Bachna Ae Haseeno (2008). After her high profile break up with Kapoor in November 2009, Padukone has decided to keep her personal life away from media attention.
